Data Backup Policy Template

A data backup policy template is like a roadmap for how an organization should handle and safeguard its digital information. It’s essentially a set of guidelines to ensure that important data is regularly and securely backed up to prevent loss in case of accidents, cyber threats, or other unforeseen events.

All departments must use this methodology to properly backup and store media containing ePHI (electronically protected health information). All electronic records on the organization’s data processing systems must be backed up and sent to an offsite location according to the Offsite Storage Requirements of this policy. Retention standards must be defined and implemented to support business and regulatory requirements.
