HITECH Reports to Congress on Breach Notification and HIPAA Compliance for 2011-2012 released by HHS Office for Civil Rights

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights, has issued two Reports to Congress called for by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act: one on Breaches of Unsecured Protected Health Information, and the other on HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rule Compliance.

The reports cover relevant activities in calendar years 2011 and 2012. These are the second reports developed by the Department and provided to Congress on the respective topics in response to the HITECH Act requirement.
